Week 2 of Virtual Church is here! It’s been a week of many changes to work, school, and leisure. The world may have changed but our Lord is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Our verse for this week is Ephesians 6:18: Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert, and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. This week we once again have our main worship service on YouTube. Although we can’t be together today we can still worship as one church. Each Sunday I’ll be posting up new resources so that we can share our usual Sunday worship in a different way. Our verse for 2020 is Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Over the next few months in our Sunday services and house groups we will be looking in more depth at what we mean when we talk about the Kingdom of God and how we can live as part of the Kingdom today. May the Lord Bless you greatly this coming year!
On Sunday 14th September we celebrated our annual Harvest Festival with a collection of tinned & packaged food for the Foodshed in Stevenage. The Foodshed supports individuals and families in need by providing essential food and toiletries. We also sad goodbye to Dot and Owen Smith who have served the church faithfully since it’s beginning in 2006. The morning would not have been complete without a farewell cake which was enjoyed by everyone after the service.
Great Ashby Community Church was really excited to be part of Love Stevenage 2019. We joined with a number of other local churches to organise an Accessible Fun Day for children with additional needs. Children from across the town came to enjoy bouncy castles, soft play, crafts, drama, games, sports & even Shetland ponies. The whole event was free. As part of Love Stevenage we aim to demonstrate the love of Jesus for the people of our town.
At Great Ashby Community Church we value our neighbourhood and want to keep it looking nice. A group of us spent a morning gardening in front of the community centre weeding & planting some flowers. Another group spent an hour litter picking in the local park. It was good to have some help from 3 of the Great Ashby community councillors.
