Mission Support
In the autumn of 2008 we applied to be a placement for a student from All Nations College in Ware. This college prepares and trains people who feel that God is calling them to go “To the ends of the earth” for him. We were delighted when Sharon Jones was placed with us.
Over the last two years Sharon has made such a difference to the life of the church here in Great Ashby. She has thrown herself into all sorts of church activities. She has preached, led worship, joined us in our Alpha course and “Pudding Club”. She has worked with us in cleaning up the car park outside the Community Centre, she has taught in our childrens' groups, got alongside
individuals to share the gospel with them, been visiting on the estate, she has eaten with us, laughed with us, cried with us and prayed with us. She even compered our fair-trade fashion show.
In the new year Sharon will be returning to Peru to serve God with a mission organisation called Latin Link. She will be going out for quite a number of years although she will return home every three years or so and I am sure she will come to visit us.
On 10th October Sharon will be returning to preach and speak to us about how we can support her in her ministry whether through financial gifts, prayer or continuing friendship with letters and e-mails.
We look forward to seeing her again then and will give her a good send off here at a commissioning service in December.
Our intention is that we continue our support of Sharon during her time away as she serves God in Peru.
