20th February 2010
Dear friends,
It seems ages since I last wrote a postcard. So much seems to have been happening in the life of Great Ashby Community Church since November. We have celebrated Christmas together, slipped and slid through snow and ice and now we are well into 2010.
As you may know, we are in the process of becoming an independently constituted church and will be holding an important congregational meeting after a fellowship lunch on Sunday 21st March. Please put this in your diaries as a matter of great importance. Your presence is needed!
As I write we are in the first week of Lent. Many people give up things ...chocolate etc, some decide to attend a house group or to go to the Lent lecture series organised by Churches Together for the period of Lent. Perhaps this could be a time to decide when we are going to spend more time in prayer or in reading our Bibles. In other words, being consciously in the presence of our wonderful God, considering all he has done for us offering ourselves back to him to be used in his service. This should, of course, not be only for the period of Lent but for all time.
“So, let us learn how to serve, and in our lives enthrone him.
Each others’ needs to prefer for it is Christ we’re serving.”
(Graham Kendrick)
In Christian friendship,
Sue
